      Michelle Obama with Anna Doherty

Blackwell's is delighted to be hosting the wonderful Anna Doherty for a celebration of her latest picture book, Michelle Obama: The Fantastically Feminist (And Totally True) Story of the Inspirational Activist and Campaigner. About the Book Meet the marvellous Michelle Obama: A+ student, passionate piano player, and a girl who's not afraid to dream big. Determined to make the world a better place, the grown up Michelle gets to work in helping the community in whatever way she can. But then she meets and falls in love with Barack Obama, who is equally passionate about changing the world and who tells her he wants to become the first African American President of the United States, Michelle knows it's time to really find her voice...  This is the absolutely astonishing, fantastically feminist and, best of all, totally true story of one amazingly inspirational global icon! About the Author Anna Doherty is a children’s book author and illustrator from Edinburgh. She studied Illustration BDes at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee and Children’s Book Illustration MA at Cambridge School of Art. Anna is currently working on a mini-series of non-fiction biographical picture books for children featuring Fantastically Feminist women. Michelle Obama is the third in the series, following Ada Lovelace and The Brontës. Her other books include Sticky, Fair Shares (written by Pippa Goodhart) and Big Ideas for Curious Minds (written by The School of Life). She loves drawing, dogs, nachos and mustard yellow.
